How to Use TESNames

TESNames is a name generator designed to create lore-inspired names in the spirit of The Elder Scrolls series. You can generate Khajiit names, Orc names, Dunmer names, Altmer names, Bosmer names, Argonian names, Redguard names, Nordic names, and other fantasy names for characters inspired by the world of Tamriel.

You can freely choose race, gender, and name length. The tool runs entirely in your browser – clicking “Generate!” instantly produces a new name based on your selected preferences. No data is stored or sent to any server.

The generator is based on a combination of names that appear in TES games and custom phonetic rules crafted by the author. If you want names that closely follow the established lore, slide the creativity bar toward “Traditional.” For more imaginative and unusual names, shift it toward “Creative.”

Each race has its own naming patterns, sounds, and cultural rules. Redguard names differ greatly from Altmer names, and Khajiit names often include prefixes tied to social status or age. TESNames uses unique linguistic logic for each race to generate names that feel authentic to their cultural background within Tamriel.

When choosing a longer name, the generator automatically adds more creative elements. Short names tend to stay closer to actual in-game naming conventions.
